I picked a wildflower down at our rural Central TX cabin property last week. Looked just like a lavender sweet pea with a white 'throat/tongue'. This is the closest image I could find on the net: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=imag.... The flower died before we got home, but I saw there were two slender bean pods (that were only 1/8" wide) on the stem, so I collected those, thinking they might yield some seeds. Well, they have sat here on a paper plate all this time and went brittle and shriveled to almost a thin cord in size. Totally brittle, I crumbled them this morning and some black seeds did fall out! I'm going to plant them in a pot of dirt this week and see if they germinate next spring. A lot of wildflowers want to winter over in the ground when it's cold for proper germination. I understand the wild perennial can be invasive, so I'll keep them in a pot and set it on my back cemented patio away from dirt where it may disperse its seeds and germinate where they are not wanted. We'll see what happens.
