Linda, they are both heat and drought tolerant. They will tolerate full sun, but in it, they WILL wilt in the late afternoon if temps get to high 90's or 100's. But mine always respond to a little drink of water and they perk right back up before I can get the dinner dishes washed. They prefer afternoon shade in the Deep South. Those of mine in full or partial shade out back barely wilt at all in heat, even triple digit heat. Mine get automatic-watering sprinkler coverage 20 minutes every other day, which we taper off to every 3 days in late Fall. They seem fine with that arrangement. Then they die off above ground, you cut their dead stalks off and they will come back the following spring. Even better..........they are native to Texas, so they "do no harm". Only one caution. They have woody, large clumps of roots thata willl spread over time. So plant them where gradual increasing of the clump won't be a problem. Established plants are fairly difficult to relocate........not impossible, as I moved 3 in the center of my large garden out back when we bought this house, .........but quite difficult to shovel up to move to the perimeter of that garden.
You're not much hotter than us in Central TX, so I would think they would do fine for you. You could try just one and see how it goes its first couple years. Then if successful in your area, you could 'increase the herd'.
