Hello All,

I am so happy I found such a great and informative forum. I am a newbie in propagation and I'm so overly paranoid I will kill this cutting! Two days ago I purchased a highly variegated monstera albo online that has one leaf and an aerial root that had rooted. (I know - not the best way to get a monstera albo but its a surprise gift for a family member that has dreamed of this plant and their birthday is coming up)

For the last two days I have kept in perlite as I thought the roots were still so young and I'm so scared it will get root rot. My question - how harmful is it if I would take it out of the perlite to see how its doing?
(I noticed a tiny spot where its light brown crisp so I'm contemplating switching to a perlite/peat moss mixture instead to keep it moist and promote more rooting OR just planting it in a potting/perlite/orchid bark mix)
