We had our first real freeze last night, with a light frost a couple of nights before that; yesterday I pulled the cucumber vines off the trellis and found 14 nice cukes that hadn't been harmed by either the weather or not tending to them for the past couple of weeks...

The temps are definitely going lower now, with some highs still getting into the low 50s, now I'm just hoping snow will hold off long enough to be able to get the "bonus chores" (the ones that if they didn't get done we'd just shrug our shoulders and figure they would still be there in the spring) taken care of. The garlic has been planted and we have a pretty nice layer of mulch of grass clippings and leaves on most of the garden - still need to cut down the asparagus stalks and pull some beets to can, and finish putting things in order in the GH.

Happy belated birthday, RpR !
