Welcome!

To address your problem... You were given bad advice. Dawn soap is a degreaser. Its great for removing oil from baby ducks. When used on plants, it removes the waxy coating (cuticle) from the leaves. The cuticle has a number of functions but the most important is keeping the leaves from losing all their moisture. Hopefully, your plant will recover. Next time, find some Insecticidal Soap.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
