Sometimes... working in the beds under the crown of the Silver Maple... I think I've applied that vegetable growing technique to my flower beds.
And sometimes... as in the case of this photo [taken on June 29, 2021]... it succeeds very nicely.
In the background you might be able to make out the wrought iron chair & table combination. That was a great place to be that afternoon.........................
The high was 81 degrees, the humidity was 70%, we received almost 9/10 of an inch of rain and the wind was not exceeding 15mph out of the southeast.
The colors of leaves & blooms would have varied from soft to bright... then soft again... as tree branches and clouds moved back & forth in that 15mph breeze. Best of all, the breeze was light enough, and blocked enough by the house, to let us enjoy the fragrance of those Lily blooms.
I was told by a gardener friend to remove the anther and filament as soon as the flower opened... that this would allow the bloom to last longer. Any opinions on this will be welcomed.
