If you go to "Settings", then click on "Manage your custom menubar" near the bottom of the settings page, you end up here:

This allows you to add your own custom links to various websites or specific pages. Once you have a link populated, the little chain-link icon appears at the top right, next to the person/profile menu.
I use it for links to various key pages on the site as well as plant and taxonomic authorities for quick access.
