I'm thinking of possibly purchasing coleus plants already grown who like shade instead of seed. What I remembered from a coleus I had years ago is that it would re-seed itself pretty often which I thought was neat. I always had little shoots coming up. That was however in east sunlight so the sun probably helped it out a bit.
