I bought several of Greg's "Special" collections this year. Searching the crosses in each collection on his list was like a treasure hunt! He groups similar crosses in most of them. I bought about 3 collections that were mostly between pinks, some with "whites", and a couple with "blue" touches. He sent generous gift collections too! Thanks @Sscape!

There were many other choices such as patterned crosses and various other colors. The Instant Buy selections were only $6 for a collection with 4-6 different crosses and totals of 25 seed or so! That is a bargain price for crosses of this quality. For example, one collection had 3 crosses with 'Wonder Of It All'. Not a hot new one but a proven parent of beautiful wide ruffly daylilies. Crosses using it usually sell for at least $1 per seed.

I don't suppose many general interest perennial gardeners read offers like this, but it would be a wonderful way to add some beautiful unique daylilies to a garden in return for waiting a year or two (even three in cold zones) for them to flower.

Daylilies are just as easy to grow from seeds as beans. Actually they are about the size of small peas on average. 3 weeks of moist stratification in a refrigerator is about right for most. I add a little seed starting mix to the little plastic bags they come in for the stratification period. They germinate best at average room temperature. A heat mat is not recommended. Expect at least 80% germination. It's really fun and exciting to see the blooms you have brought to life!

I'm looking forward to getting in at the beginning of Greg's list this fall. I didn't start buying seeds until December. By then many had been sold. The ones left were so good I wondered what I had missed! So, I'll be watching.
