Yesterday was off/on rain (and a doctor's appointment), and ditto today rain. These pictures are from Wednesday and Thursday morning.

TB 'Royalty Remembered' FFO Thursday; DH finally got some deep purple (maybe the only deep purple iris he'll see this season). I really like this one, for bloom color, size, and form. The companion plant is Tulbaghia violacea (society garlic) 'Ashanti'. (Irises in this area of the garden are white, purple, lavender and lavender/pink-ish, to coordinate with the society garlic.)

'Empire Strikes Back' FFO Tuesday, Iirc. These images were taken on Wednesday and Thursday. The bloom started opening on Tuesday, and you can see that the skirts (er, falls) still won't drop! It should have been named 'White Hussy'! (I bought this for the name (because the movie is a favorite for various reasons, and certainly 1 of the 2 best in the Star Wars franchise) and I really want to like it, but those falls! Glare And the color? That movie had the Dark Side ascendant, so you'd think that an iris with that name should be a purple black! Unless the hybridizer was thinking of the ice planet Hoth, in which case, why not name it 'Hoth'?! Grumbling )

(Yes, Poly is in a nitpicky/witchy mood today! Hilarious! )

TB 'Pure as Gold' I love Lovey dubby the color on this iris (which for some reason does not seem to translate correctly in the digital image). It just stands out, color-wise, when it is in bloom. It is similar, I guess, to the eye-zorching daylily 'Mary's Gold'; it has that same grab-your-eyes effect. I just wish it were taller, and would rebloom for me. (Maybe the tree-root infested bed it inhabits has something to do with that? Confused ) If you gave me an iris with the bloom size (and stalk height) of 'That's All Folks', with this color, and it reliably rebloomed, I'd maybe think I was in heaven.

TB 'I I Stutter' FFO Thursday. This hasn't bloomed for maybe a couple of years (poor location) so I was glad to see it in bloom yesterday. Nice enough iris (although it doesn't rebloom for me, maybe due to its shady location), but horrible name.

TB 'Busy Being Blue' and BB 'Pink Puppy' A shot of the patio's pot ghetto (which DH complains bitterly about, but at least I can look at the irises without having to hobble outside).

'Royalty Remembered', 'Pure as Gold', and 'I I Stutter' are all registered rebloomers. I vaguely seem to recall, at another house, years ago, 'Pure as Gold' reblooming for me. The jury is still out on 'Royalty Remembered' (this is maybe only its second year in the ground), and 'I I Stutter' I suspect may just be in a bad place. Or maybe these things just need time? Confused it took a while for 'Peggy Sue' to settle in, before I ever saw any rebloom.

Still... it's frustrating that so many rebloomers are not reliable. Sad
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom
