Hi Ed. What part of Texas are you in? We have about 4 climate zones. I am in Fort Worth, Where the Timber Ridge area meets the Blackland Prairie. I get a little less rain than folks east of me, but lately it shows up in multiple inches. Your enemies are water and heat in summer, wind and extreme cold in winter, at least in Fort Worth.

Georgetown is down by Austin, you are probably not going to have the winter problem. And not as much rain as the Houston area. So my solution for summer is to have my semps on my firewood stand which is at the southern edge of the canopy of my live oak. They get morning sun and late afternoon sun but no noonday sun. Seems to work pretty well. If we have extreme rain coming, I will cover them so they don't get too wet. I water every couple of weeks in summer, in the evening. I mixed my own soil so it has good drainage. And I do have gravel over the soil to keep them away from wet dirt. I love your strawberry pot, but I've not tried one of those yet. Maybe the member from North Richland Hills has, can't remember his name. This isn't a great picture, but 2 pm yesterday after I mowed. My semps are under the wire hardware cloth cage on the wood and brick firewood stand. Cage is for the squirrels, to keep them from planting acorns in my pots.
