3) Adding hybridizer location would be an EXCELLENT addition to our database. The how and changes needed, for instance even the hybridizer search feature would need some corrections, and only way I know to add location with a hybridizer would be manually using the code which is like...2 miles long. Unless there's a way for Dave to use the info for Hybridizer and State and get it programmed into the daylily database. I don't know, I don't even know if he'd be willing to do it.

I've copied @Calif_Sue to this thread and she has forwarded info to Dave. We'll see what he says.

If we're talking about petitioning the AHS to allow for more data points with daylily registrations, one thing I'd LOVE to see is a open-space for the hybridizer's notes. Specifically, the types of things that hybridizers tend to write about when releasing a new introduction. What brought me to this idea was the fact that Di DeCaire's old website is gone, along with her descriptions for many popular cultivars such as Four Beasts In One. I was able to retrieve those notes by finding a dead link to her website, and then reviewing what was available via Archive.org.

I realize allowing a hybridizer to rhapsodize about their introduction within the registration and DB might be off-putting to some, but think about the lengths that someone like Karol Emmerich goes to on her website when writing about her intros, candidly and honestly. Wouldn't it be great to have those detailed insights preserved for posterity?

E.g. I might, someday soon, register a few myself. And some of those registrations may be what we'd call "vanity registrations"... a named plant that I might grow and give a piece of it here and there, but not something that's a "commercial introduction". I'd love the ability to say "yes, this is a flower named for my two children that I may never become popular...." or something like that. Anyway, just something I'd love to see, and arguably it's just a datapoint, just one more column of data for any new registration.
