Question on amarylis, I have 1 that ever bloomed, and also produced a lot of baby bulbs, my question is after flowering, will the same bulb produce flower again? Or should I keep the mother bulb or just get rid of it and only keep the baby bulbs ?

Thank you. Amaryllis are really so easy and the rewards are to re-bloom again and again.

Can you post a pic ? Do you know the size of the bulb and name of the flower or where it was from?

To prepare amaryllis to re-bloom next season…

Carefully remove the small bulbs from the main bulb . Leave all the leaves attached to the mother bulb and leave in it's pot with soil and treat as a regular plant . In 2-3 months begin to stop watering the bulb until the leaves turn yellow and fade. This process will refuel the bulb to flower for the next season. Pull the bulb from the pot remove the soil and leaves let the bulb dry. Store in a dry cool area for 8-10 weeks.

In about 8-10 weeks before the next holiday season…usually in Oct.here, replant the mother bulb in moist not wet soil. Place in a warm area heated temps to 70 or above. Place in indirect light for 8-10 hours daily. Do not water until the leaves begin growing . It may or may not bloom again the next holiday season depending on the bulb size or it may bloom again next summer. Some bulbs bloom in Dec. And again in June. Or some bulbs will bloom later than December in March or April.
Re-Bloom timing depends on if the bulb is from the Netherlands early blooms or South Africa later blooms , or in the US.

'Magical Touch ' Amaryllis blooms every year once in Dec and again in June every year.
Some bulbs are very dependable other take time to build up bulb size to bloom again.
