A couple of years ago DH & I visited Wilderness State Park (11 miles west of Mackinac City, Michigan). It is a designated Dark Sky Park (and Michigan has a load of these parks). Oh...My...Gosh ! The dirt roadway leading to the parking lot advises you to turn off your headlights. The edges of the road are illuminated by tiny lights, so you can park.
I'm telling you...it's a place where you can't see your hand in front of your face.
Bring your lawn chair, binoculars, & telescope.
The Milky Way was in our lap.
It took our breath away.
It would be very cool to visit during one of the meteor showers.
