I planted a few seeds of it crossed with Cosmic Kaleidoscope. Probably not enough to get what I'd like but maybe I will find an offspring that can survive Ohio's winters.

It looks like Cosmic Kaleidoscope has a dor or sev gene in there. If the two non-evergreen genes got together, perhaps the dormant or sev offspring has a bit more staying power through the winter. Or not. It's the wet and warm that rots and dooms many, not just the cold. And microclimate matters. Just saying. You never know (until you know.) It might do okay for you, Pete. What zone are you?
