Love the banner, with its contrasts. I agree about the trees being birches (white or canoe birch). My first thought, based just on the form of the shrubs, was some kind of forsythia. I've seen yellow (duh!) and white forms, so I googled 'pink forsythia', on the off chance, and found there really is such a thing. There's even an entry for it in the NGA plants database.
