Martha Sargent's No Melt Peanut Butter Suet (let me look it up...)

1 cup crunchy peanut butter
1 cup lard
2 cups quick oats
2 cups cornmeal
1 cup white flour
1/3 cup sugar

Melt the lard and peanut butter together in the microwave or on the stovetop. (For a big batch, I find it's easier to do on the stove over med-high heat, stirring frequently.) Stir in the dry ingredients. (As mentioned above, if you have any dried fruit that has blackened -- still edible, just unappetizing -- dice it and add it also. To keep the squirrels out of it, I add a generous amount of cayenne pepper, until it tastes too hot to eat, try 1/2 cup. Turn the heat to low and simmer it for 20 minutes so the pepper can permeate the other ingredients.)

When cool enough to handle, form it into balls. (I spread it in a baking dish and chill it in the fridge, then cut into blocks that fit my suet feeder. Each block goes into a sandwich baggie, and I store the batch in gallon zip loc freezer bags.)
