@BetNC 6" works for quart jars, 4" cukes work for pints. I only use Mrs Wages Kosher Dill mix - but I stripped even the small
Parisian Gherkins and had enough for a pint of gherkin sized dills. Sweet pickles slice different, so length doesn't matter, just measure the spears to the jar when prepping,
I do measure and cut spears, then Kosher salt to dry brine while the hot water bath boils, then rinse and pat dry before packing. I use the micro wave to heat the pickling mix, water first, vinegar second, then add the packet, wipe the lips of jar clean, ( I also use the oven to sterilize the jars after washing, set at 200*F til you pack them tite as you can in the jars). Hot water bath for 10 or 15 min - depends on jar size. Since I only have one vine right now producing, I only use half the packet of Mrs Wages, and I got 2.5 qts on the 22nd, 3 quarts on the 30th, and it looks like I will be doing a few more tomorrow.
leftover mix holds in fridge (for a few days anyway) and can be reheated and used when cukes are ramped up.
