Thank you for your reassuring messages. I had another ground squirrel raid the other night, and six out of eight tomato plants had their leaves stripped completely off. But the scaffolding of branches is still there, and I have built a fence around my tomatoes now, so I'm hopeful that my tomato season hasn't been ruined, especially after reading your replies here.
