He was involved with the UC Berkeley bot garden for years, helped spark the founding of the ISI, explored plants around the world and described 45 species. I've been to his nursery in north San Diego county (Tropic World) which was also associated with some interesting hybrids and cultivars.
The aloe hybrid was bred and named by Dick Wright in his honor.
