I'm going to have to hop in here and defend the hops vines . They are not thugs that grow wild over plants. The hop vines have been in my garden for over 20 years. They are planted at the base of the arch's . I leave the old vines on the arches over winter. Then next spring the new vines follow the remains from last seasons vines up and on the arches which guides the way for the hops new growth. A easy vine to take care of really. I have trees and shrubs right next to them . I use a reacher grasp to keep the vines in position every once in awhile a stray vine pops up I just pull it out the roots are surface level easy to pull out. It's really one of the easiest maintenance plants in my entire garden. The tunnels they create are a nice view and easy to walk thru.
They never get water , fertilizer and zero attention other than the display they put on every year over and over. Such a good plant… one of my favorites. I don't know why any gardener wouldn't have one or two in their garden as a green tunnel of fun.
I’m so busy... “I don’t know if I found a rope or lost a horse.”
