Those do not look like they'd be much use in my garden.

You probably should define specific plants that you are warring against, and particular media and garden types that you expect to use above tool maintaining.

when I have large poke plants that have become too numerous, a shovel after a recent rain works very well.

When I have large evening primrose plants? A shovel, or if soil is moist enough, just hand pull.

Blackberry briars?
Either a shovel, or just fireplace gloves... either way, I usually will see that plant again in a month or two.

Smilax?
A shovel...

I can't visualize a plant that above "tool" would be utilized against.

As far as turf maintenance?
What little is on the place is growing between the wheel tracks on my drive way... a string trimmer is enough to maintain.
