I have a serviceberry tree that, I think, is about 20 years old. It is about 15 x 15 ft and still growing a little bigger each year. I actually planted it with my dad, but at the time I was not into gardening and did not pay attention to which variety of serviceberry it is, and then I stupidly failed to ask him before he died a few years ago. Is there any way to find out what it is, like a genetic test? I'm assuming there are only a few options, varieties that were available at local garden centers at the time. These days the only serviceberry I see for sale is 'autumn brilliance', but it is listed as growing up to 25 x 20 ft and I'm skeptical my dad would have wanted a tree of that size in the corner of the garden.
