I decided even I start seeds in mid-summer, I'm going to do it indoors again where the control freak in me can avoid the hazards of outdoors for the babies.
Fertilizing for the October batch: 2 doses of earthworm castings when they were still in the 2" pots, 1/8 tsp per plant mixed gently in the top, 1st dose at 1 month, 2nd dose 2 weeks later. I repotted them into 3" clay pots at 2 months and mixed in 1/2 tbsp Dynamite Flower (same as Osmocote but that was in the garage) and 1/2 tsp bone meal in each pot. At roughly 5½ months I gave them another dose of earthworm castings, 1/4 tsp in each pot, and then a 2nd dose again 2 weeks later. And at about 6½ months I gave them AgroThrive Fruit & Bloom, 1/4 tsp per 6 quarts water.
Fertilizing for the February batch has only been 2 doses of earthworm castings, 1/8 tsp per 3" pot mixed gently into the top, 1st dose at about 7 weeks, 2nd dose 2 weeks later. And about a week after that 2nd dose gave them a light dose of AgroThrive Fruit & Bloom, 1/4 tsp per 6 quarts water. I've also started watering them normally from the top now every 2 days with the older babies.
And by the age I mention, I count from the day I planted them, not germination dates. Just to save what's left of my sanity by not keeping track of different dates for each plant.
