Hi Lynn, and everyone, thanks for the welcome! I have several "babies" that were unlabeled, at the time the less expensive way to go, yet now I'm kicking myself because there are a couple that I want to know what they are, in the spring I'll send photos to see if anyone can identify! Smiling I've been purchasing from SMG and my interactions with Don have been so great! The first plants that I have and especially like are Pacific devil's food, (gorgeous red this time of year) semp arech. tomentosa (which was beautiful until the rains began, now they're soggy and I'm not sure if I should move them into a pot (they're in the ground) then I had a lovely one called 'Olivette', which doesn't seem to have made it, it was doing great and don't know what happened Sad I keep hoping that something will come back, it died off before the rains started.
My fav so far though are the "rollers" they're so cute and lively, and honestly I'm feeling that some form of therapy may be in order :P because I go out to my raised bed and slowly weed and just stare at these lovely little guys coming along! (I don't think they should be called "hens n chicks" but rather momma n babies!! They really are so cute to me!) Anyway I have 2 rollers - Jovibarba sobolifera 'August cream' and Jovibarba hirta 'Histoni' both of these are amazing little plants, just since April 2012 they've total spread into the areas that I want them!
I help them along by feeling around on the plant for the loose rollers and planting them along the outside edges. Sorry for the long message, its just really nice to read some of these posts and see that I'm not alone in my love for these little amazing plants!
Okay so in closing, I have 9 varieties arriving next week (SMG filled my order and mailed the plants within several days - I was so impressed!)
I have Jovibara 'hedge hog' Semps 'Dynamo', 'Karo' (can't wait to see if this one is really as cool as the photo!) 'Hey Hey' ,'Leneca', 'Woolcott's variety' 'Peterson's Orantum' 'Dame Arsac' and 'Emerson's Giant' I went a bit crazy! I have a couple raised beds that I've been using for veggies and I think they're now going to be fully given to Semp's! Anyway eventually I want to build a green wall using semps and sedums, I'm also thinking of making mini ones about 1 foot high using some of the smaller sedums and semps! Okay that's me for now!
Take care and happy planting! (meanwhile I have my house filled with Streptocarpus and tender succulents :P) I'll share photos soon Cheers,
Greg
