Hi Gloria..tillandsias are air plants so they can be mounted on anything, wooden slabs, rocks, seashells, wine cork, on a tree.... I found this link that discusses growing the tillandsia cyanea that you wanted:

I like growing tillandsia since it does not require soil, just good air circulation and watering is not too tasking, just dunking it in water works well once a week or longer if grown indoors, and right now I have 3 in my growcamp outdoors that just relishes the fog/moisture it gets from the air. They like bright indirect light. During warmer weather, you can mist the leaves, but I prefer giving them a full dunking so that the entire leaf and its undersides gets the needed moisture.
