Chris, I loved the point you made about how containers are beneficial to the health of your plants in that containers enable one to "save" a plant from a deluge of rain or drip, or overbearing sun or devasting wind or pelting hail, etc. just by picking it up or wheeling it out of the way of danger.
I had all my semps in 11 flats of soil for 12 years and it was so easy to move and rotate and re-locate to 3 different states. Now all 11 flats are planted into a raised brick bed and I can't move a thing. The sun only shines at a certain angle on the bed and I can't rotate it. And if my husband changes jobs and needs to move..... Grumbling
