It may be zone , Mary Ann, but probably it's more a culture thing. If left to go dormant after bloom, only a few of the "best" rebloomers will put on a show. That's why I've got mine in a "dedicated" bed( just remonants). That way I can give them the extra water and fertilizer they need. They are much more" rot- resistant" than the normal iris, and stand up to, and even need the extra boost. To treat the normal iris this way would be to invite rot ,and actually hurt the" spring only bloomers".. So, I would say, some of the most reliable rebloomers will "do it on their own," but most need some extra TLC......Arlyn
