We have 30% chance of rain this afternoon! I think I'll still water a little before it gets too hot to be outside. The sky is a whitish gray. I guess there's still particulates in the air from the grass fires near us. I had an e-mail from a friend in Arizona. She had seen the news about the homes in Austin that were destroyed and wondered if we were near there. She said they hadn't had rain out there in months. They were having someone come in to clear all the grasses and tumbleweed on their 5 acre property, just leaving a little grass around the trees for the quail. they already have a 20 ft fire break around the house. They hope the monsoon season comes soon.

I was looking at the trees in the green belt behind us. That thorny, weedy devil's ivy is growing all over the trees, coming up from the ground and then draping down again. If we ever had a fire back there, flames would come right over the fence following that ivy, up our trees, and over to the house. Always something....to worry about!
