Truly beautiful, and we used to have one in a prominent spot in the back yard .... but they can be deadly for dogs and cats. The barbed seed (the seed has a "feather" on it that carries the barbs) can easily be inhaled and then anchors inside the nasal cavity. Our dog simply brushed the plant, caught an airborne seed in her nose, and quickly began bleeding from the nose as she tried to sneeze it out. Fortunately it did dislodge, but we had to move the plant outside of the backyard, behind a tall fence, and down-wind from where the dogs go out to exercise. Just a word of caution for pet owners.

Otherwise, it is a lovely, dreamy plant ... I wish they would hybridize to eliminate the barbed seeds, though....
