Good story, Margaret! I do that with Pride of Barbados seed pods every fall. Pull them off the bushes at my daughter's, then forget to take them out of the car. As the pods dry, the burst open and throw large seeds everywhere in the car. I wonder if I could use that as a defense if I rear end another car? "But, officer, I heard popping sounds and thought I was being attacked by large flying bugs coming at me from all directions when I hit that car in front of me!"
