Um, if I might offer my 2 cents, it might not be a good idea to have an EEar in the same pot with your nice stripey Canna (second pic). The Canna (in my experience at least) will fill that pot over the summer, and definitely would choke out the EEar. They are lusty growers, heavy feeders and very thirsty, just like the ears, but more so.


I have been putting those cannas in those pots for years and there is plenty of space to add other plants although you are correct EE's aren't the best choice. Oh how I wish they would multiply like yours. My season isn't long enough for that to happen. You make me drool with florida envy. It is our plan to retire in Florida in two years. We have not chosen a location but I'm thinking central Florida and just far enough south to have palm trees. Maybe Lakeland, Lake Wales area.
