If you do happen to spray herbicide on a daylily leaf, just tear off that leaf. Quickly.
A few years back, I was a landscape manager with crews of non-English speakers. I required them to use dye in all herbicide applications. It really helped me see who was spraying carefully and who wasn't! It really cut down on the mystery plant losses. It also cut down on herbicide use because there was no question about which areas were covered.
The dye is pretty cheap, and well-worth it, I think. Now that I only garden for myself, I try hard to garden organically, but oh my hands ache sometimes. I've already had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands.
But it is true that if you pull and pull, year after year, the weeds will eventually give up! (until you till...so don't till!)
