Well the Joe Pye weed is at the end of its bloom so about all that is left for nectaring is the trusty old Butterfly bush. I have plans to plant some areas specifically with butterflies in mind this fall. Milkweed, Iron weed, more Joe Pye, Dutchman Pipe, Passion flower and next spring will be using lots of lantana. I did have 1 good visitor today. This is a black swallowtail. I did not learn how to specifically differentiate this butterfly from the spice bush until I went on the butterfly count. Not as common as either the spice bush or pipevine in my yard it is always a welcomed visitor.
