When I was a child, both my grandmothers "let" me take care of watering their plants. I distinctly remember being told not to move the Christmas cactus after they were brought indoors. The African violets and geraniums had to be rotated a bit each time I watered them, but i absolutely could not turn the cactus or move it to a different window.
My mom's plants never bloomed as well as my grandmother's. I wonder if it's because she was always rearranging plants, furniture, etc, and lights were on and off at irregular times. At grandma's house, lights weren't needed after dark because, well, you were in bed asleep!

Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
