Thanks so much, ya'll! I wrote this a while back and it just happened to be posted after my computer went on the fritz! I'm using another computer temporarily until mine gets back from the shop, just got this connected today. Yes, Lady Bird got the highway maintenance people in Texas to avoid mowing down wildflowers unnecessarily and then inspired the state and local highway people to plant more wildflowers along major highways. This fall the plants are trying to come back around here. The wild milkweeds were dormant from the drought, some have come back up, but I don't see any blooming along the roads. For some reason, the White Mistflower hasn't bloomed yet, even in my yard...mine is about to start, it's late! But the last couple of rains have been a big blessing, otherwise the blooms along the roads would be much less! Hoping for more rain this weekend! Oh, and there's still time to plant wildflowers that will bloom in the spring! I need to go get some bluebonnet seeds and get them planted right away!
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
Integrity can never be taken. It can only be given, and I wasn't going to give it up to these people. Gary Mowad
