FYI, Black Diamond is the same as the plant Crepe Myrtle (Lagerstroemia 'Ebony Flame')

I really doubt that it would be hardy as far north as Zone 5. In an area that cold, I would not recommend attempting it except maybe as a single specimen in a VERY protected area. Even then, it's likely that the best you'd get is it returning from the roots each year.
