I grow a bunch of both in large pots. At season's end I cease watering, put the pots in the garage (in Oct), allow the foliage to die back (and if not , cut it to the soil level in November, and then move all the pots into the basement (avg temp appx 60°) for the winter. Once translocated, they are stored dry throughout the winter. Come Aptil, or usually May, I either re-pot or move the pots outside again. I also do this w/ Gloriosas, Pineapple Lilies, Crinum, Aztec Lilies, and Elephant Ears.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.
