Sherl - rooted leaves SELDOM produce growth. Yes, I have heard success stories but it depends upon how the leaf was cut from the main vine - if there was no growth point included you will never get a plant. I would toss it.

Best way, for me, to get the mealies on a compacta is to dunk the whole plant mass in some (mild) soapy water with a tiny bit of oil in it...called the Soap/Oil Method. I'll bet you could Google the recipe.
It's all about choices.
