Storm passed through last night. I think about 7 inches of snow in less than 6 hours, but then freezing rain started. Now it really is a mess. Our local paper's website says very few accidents because people are staying off the roads. Was supposed to take my Mom to routine medical appointment, but I canceled. To afraid she would fall and break a hip or something. My dear neighbors will be over later today to dig us out. My driveway is 650 feet and he has a small backhoe that he does my driveway with. Even my two dogs could barely get around to "do their business" out there. Josie is a Border Collie - they are very athletic, agile dogs, and she's in top shape… and the older dog, Allie, is Collie x Border Collie. She is not in the best shape, but she has been pretty sure footed. They were really struggling with trying to get through the snow. They couldn't quite stay on top of the snow on the layer of ice, and yet were sliding on the ice trying to walk on it.

The local sheriff's office posted a warning that this is the kind of snow/ice that is dangerous to shovel unless you are in tip top shape. It's really heavy, and very slippery.

Rita, if this is the storm headed your way --- please be very careful and don't do the shoveling yourself, ok?
