No I don't think there's any thing to separate either. Maybe next year.
Evan, I bought it as a plant in a 4 in. pot late last spring. I ended up repotting it 3 times (finally into a 12 in. pot) to keep up with the growth. So that gives you an idea of how much the bulb grew last year.
