The umbrella would not be total rain protection. It would be up high, using fat PVC pipe sleeve, like a patio umbrella so some side ways rain drops will get to them. It will, however keep the major down pours off of them. Anything heavier and I would protect both the adenium AND the umbrella from the storm. You can pay $$$ at Golf stores but I saw them on Ebay for around $30 or less. Just make sure the handle is straight and not a hook-type if you plan to use the PVC pipe sleeve to raise it or you will have to cut off the handle. I looked for 48" + since that is about the diameter of my table. I will watch closely for burning.
