I've been hoping that some Monarchs would show up around here lately, but no luck so far. Also didn't see any this week during my trip to Houston. And yet, I found eggs and tiny new caterpillars on my DD's milkweed in Houston yesterday. If I had brought my magnifying loupe with me, I would've been able to tell if they were Monarchs or Queens before I left. I didn't see any wild milkweeds along the roads on the way or back, but maybe there were some that just weren't big enough to spot easily. There are a few wild roadside milkweeds I've noticed in my own area, but no eggs or cats found so far. I've seen a couple of Tiger Swallowtails and some Pipevine Swallowtails lately.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
Integrity can never be taken. It can only be given, and I wasn't going to give it up to these people. Gary Mowad
