I'm amazed, reading this thread, just how high the losses will be for some people. As usual, things are different here in Central FL. My planting window is from late Oct. to Dec. 31. If plants are in the ground later than that, they can't develop enough roots to survive the heat that often comes on suddenly. Ditto the comments above on small fans. They just don't have the roots to survive that blast of heat. We are getting a break this year--spring is really, really late and cool and the daylilies are loving it.
