This article isn't very long but it brought up something I had never heard before. Apparently, research shows that if a caterpillar goes without eating milkweed for a period of 24 hours it can decrease the intensity of the color of the butterfly! Also, there is the expected consequence of a smaller-winged butterfly. But I never knew that about the colors - so interesting! Now everyone get out there and plant some milkweed!
