I just found this thread. Glen, I used these & had great success with them! They are great, easy to use & they work. When I had very small places like saucers under plants that got standing water when it rained gobs but the plant was too heavy for me to lift & dump the saucer; I would break off appropriately sized pieces & throw them in the saucer.
So far, I haven't needed them since we moved but I was sure thankful for them when I lived in zone 10 Florida.

Also, pets should not drink from water containing these (from the package label) so you don't want your kitties drinking but I believe your kitties are strictly indoor cats right?
