Well, I'd noticed that the Mockingbirds hadn't been protecting the nest in the neighbors shrub anymore so when we got back from our vacation I went over and looked in ... eggs have been abandoned. I took a picture and when I downloaded I saw what looks like tiny puncture marks in one egg, possibly both. I think the big black snake must have gotten them. Crying
