Well...the roots are down in our containers... Running about chacing water and nutrients ..and running into the sides of the containers... Some wrapping themselves around and around as they run with the curve of the sides...
Here I have a container made of solid builders foam 11/2 " thick.... With the outside surface covered in a synthetic stucco..
Inside is a variegated grass..the rots must have encountered the side. Pushing against it forming a pocket that caught water,, growing stronger and bigger there..MIT pushed harder. And got more water and stronger there. Til it was all the way through to the outside and sunlight.. Where it sprouted ..this happened twice in this container.. Amazing strength.. But anchored and enjoying water from within and light outside
