Regarding company recommendations, I like the general attitude of 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.' Silence can sometimes speak volumes...
Regarding trades, I think of them as over the back fence exchanges. If you have a problem, take it up with the person directly. No reason to bad mouth anyone for what may have been an honest mistake.
