Painted Buntings are back! They left a month ago (for whatever reason), so great to see them again. I saw a few greenies on the ground and one was acting like a chick...fluttering its wings and opening its beak, trying to get the adult's attention. A lot of birds around now.

I've noticed that sometimes a hummingbird will chase a Scott's Oriole away when the oriole is trying to get the nectar. Maybe I'll add another hummingbird feeder. Have seen the orioles hunting for insects...got closer to one of those orioles than I have before when it was trying really hard to get a bagworm...it didn't even notice me standing on the other side of some plants.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
Integrity can never be taken. It can only be given, and I wasn't going to give it up to these people. Gary Mowad
